Our Story: A Passion for Seeds Takes Root

Hello, I'm Neets Pluschke, the founder and heart behind Addicted to Seeds. My journey into the world of seeds wasn't a sudden leap but a slow, joyful unfolding, deeply rooted in a lifelong love for the outdoors, a connection to family, and the simple wonder of watching things grow.
From Backyard Hobby to Budding Business
For years, my garden in Canberra has been my sanctuary, my laboratory, and my greatest teacher. I've always been drawn to the stories behind plants – the heirloom varieties passed down through generations, the native species that paint our local landscape, and the incredible resilience of open-pollinated seeds that adapt and thrive. Sharing surplus seeds with friends and family was a natural extension of this passion. The smiles and excitement I saw when they successfully grew something from a seed I'd saved sparked an idea: why not share this joy on a wider scale?
Addicted to Seeds was born from this desire to connect fellow gardeners with reliable, high-quality seeds, especially those well-suited to our unique Canberra climate. It's more than just a business; it's a way to foster a community of growers, to promote biodiversity, and to encourage sustainable gardening practices.
Why Open-Pollinated and Native Seeds?
My focus is primarily on open-pollinated and heirloom varieties because they offer genetic diversity and the ability for gardeners to save their own seeds, continuing a cycle of self-sufficiency and adaptation. Native seeds hold a special place in my heart too. They are vital for supporting local ecosystems, providing food and habitat for native wildlife, and they are, of course, beautifully adapted to our Australian conditions.
Canberra Grown, Canberra Proud
Being based in Canberra means I understand the challenges and rewards of gardening in our region – from frosty winters to hot, dry summers. Many of the seeds I offer are trialed right here in my own garden, ensuring they are robust and ready for yours.
When I'm not tending to seedlings or packing orders, you'll likely find me exploring the local bushland with my family, drawing inspiration from the natural world, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in the garden with a cup of tea.
Thank you for joining me on this seed-filled adventure. I hope Addicted to Seeds inspires you to get your hands dirty, to experiment, and to experience the profound satisfaction of growing your own.
Happy gardening,
Neets Pluschke
